Corgsters, I need your help, or more specifically- this guy needs your help. This is Nolan. He is one of the rescues at the the Celtic Corgi Rescue. Although we’re not sure of his exact age, we think he’s around two or three. He recently finished his heartworm treatment and is now an adoptable dog. However, as he has spent more time with us at the kennel, some problems have arose. He is very easily stimulated and is starting to get fairly nutty. There could be one of two causes; the first being that he has swelling in the brain which in that case would mean that he has to be helped across the rainbow life to end his suffering(I’ll let tumblr world know as soon as I know if this is the case), the second, and much less point a to b cause would be that he’s just a bit nutty and needs a good owner to straighten him out and to get him out of the kennel setting. The problem is is that there are many dogs out there without his behavior issues that could be placed much more easily than him. But I just don’t think this is fair. I have personally spent a lot of time with him and put a lot of heart into him. He’s a very sweet and affectionate boy that, in my opinion, just needs the structure of a good loving people who is willing to help him overcome his mental hurdles.
He LOVES to play and be around people, but he doesn’t really have the best body language and social skills with other dogs. He isn’t aggressive towards all dogs all the time, but if they misread his body language, problems arise and fights happen. I’m not trying to sugar coat him. He DOES have some problems, but on the other hand he’s a wonderful little guy. - The first name drawn gets to chose any four books they wish. The second and third names get to choose three books of the remaining selection. Fourth and fifth: two books. And the other six winners will get one book.
- That’s eleven winners total!
- I will be ending the giveaway at 8 pm on May 1.

Listen I know giveaways can be annoying, and maybe no one cares about a bunch of books, but I cannot sell all 200+ of my books so I might as well give some away.

Ahhhhhh, I really hate being that guy, but here goes. Playing with a laser pointer with a dog may seem fun, cute, or funny, but it the end it’s VERY detrimental to your dogs mental state. Laser pointers, ESPECIALLY with herding breeds like corgis, cause all sorts of bad juju in the brain. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, aggression, anxiety, eating disorders. It may seem silly, but I’ve seen it happen. The high chase drive matched with something they can never catch just makes them bonkers. I personally know a german shepherd that is a direct product of a laser pointer. He can’t keep on weight. He’s a total friggin nut on top of some major ocd. not to mention a lot of jacked up social skills and sudden bouts of aggression. (He’s one of the few dogs I’ve worked with that bit me hard enough to break the skin.) It’s not a pretty picture. My boss spent YEARS breaking the behaviors a laser pointer had instilled in a dog she rescued. Not every dog is as lucky as that rescue. A lot of the time, dog’s with issues like that are simply euthanized. It’s not something you or your dog really want to go through. So leave the laser pointer to the cats and stick with a good ol’ game of fetch =D
Sorry I used Zombie as an example. I think she’s just great, and I’d hate to see anything happen to such a cute girl.
I just want to go until I can’t anymore
I want to walk as far as these two feet will carry me. I want to meet new people. See new places. Sure there’s the adage that everything is the same everywhere, just different faces, but I guess I’m more of a romantic than that. I see the world as an open book waiting for me to rip through the pages and create some fantastic adventure. And yet, here I sit. Not going. Why? Because it’s what I’m supposed to do. Wake up early. Go to school. Go to work. Go home. Go to sleep. There has to be so much more to it than this. So what holds me back? Relationships? Family? Obligations? I honestly don’t know. I don’t feel like any of this is the real reason… It’s not like I’d go forever. Someday I’d come back to this shit hole town in this shit hole state. But home is where the heart is and mine is out there. Some where. Waiting for me to find it. Fuck it all.
